Sustainable Fashion Week Brighton 2023

September 30th – October 1st, 2023

The Sustainable Fashion Week Hub in Brighton wants to challenge society to rethink our relationship with clothes by re-wearing, sharing and caring for the clothes we already have, provide the tools needed to extend the life-cycle of our clothes and empower the community to demand accountability for the harmful practices of the fashion industry.

The Urban Fabric

Winter of 2022/2023

We took part in a three month creative place making residency with Sussex University’s Co-Lab during the winter of 2022/2023 – The Urban Fabric was a creative collaboration between ourselves and our project partners Quiet Down There.

We undertook an arts research project with people from our local community including children from Carlton Hill Primary, the Multicultural Women’s group, Sew Fabulous students and Harriet’s press customers.

Imagined Places – our exhibition at Lighthouse

23rd – 26th March 2023

This exhibition is the outcome of an intensive 3-month residency by three creative teams commissioned by the Sussex Co-Lab at the University of Sussex. The teams were selected through an open call to respond to the urgent need for dialogue and community engagement in sustainable city planning. The goal was to improve access and the representation of a wider demographic in that process.

The Urban Fabric

We are really pleased to announce our new residency – Resilient Cities that we are running with Quiet Down There in collaboration with Sussex Co-lab at Sussex University.

Urban Fabric: Quiet Down There and Sew Fabulous are working closely with the London Road community to create an urban fabric.  Creating designs that capture what people value in the public realm and how they can be empowered to be part of the story of the changing local area. Collaborators in the creation of fabric will then decide its fate.
