The layers of London Rd

A creative collaboration with our project partners Quiet Down There

Commissioned by Sussex University Co Lab – This project is a continuation from The Urban Fabric

The Layers Of London Road is a place based creative textile project exploring the layers of people’s lived experience of London Road. What and who matters here? Where do you feel welcome? Who else cares about the area?

We ran sessions in Sew Fabulous, Harriet’s Press, Presuming Ed’s cafe and in The Drop in Brighton Open Market.

We discussed people’s ambitions for change on London Road and spoke about how we can all continue to take active steps to make this a healthy, welcoming and sustainable area.

We used salvaged fabrics, netting and thread to create collages that represent our connection to or feelings about London Road and our pathways to or through it.
