Christmas sewing – Make a Robin or Polar bear decoration

Age range: Families and Kids

Join us for some festive sewing and make your own beautiful Polar Bear or Robin Christmas tree decoration.

This workshop is suitable for all ages, and all abilities. No experience necessary.

You will cut and hand sew your own unique decoration and learn to embellish with different hand embroidery stitches, sequins and beads.

Beginners and improvers sewing course

5 weeks on Wednesdays start Jan 12th 2022

Age range: Adults / Teens

Suitable for beginners and improvers. Bring your own make or be guided by our tutor with a project eg. a cushion, bag, or garment. Ideal to refresh your skills or improve techniques such as zips, pockets and beyond!

The course will provide you with a thorough introduction to the general principles and skills of clothes making and sewing, using a purchased commercial pattern.

Visible mending. Stitch and patch with Jayne Eagle

Come and learn how to visible-mend in a decorative way. Using hand sewing skills to repair and give new life to your well loved garments and home textiles.

By using simple stitches you will learn how to mend worn, torn and moth eaten fabric in ways which are both creative and functional.

Over the three hour workshop you will work stitching and patching techniques which will be suitable for woven fabrics such as denims and cottons

Visible mending. Darning with Jayne Eagle

Saturday 5th march 2021 – Wed 9th march 2021

Join us to learn how to use hand darning techniques in a creative and individual way in this visible-mending workshop.

Over the three hours you will be guided through ways to mend holes and reinforce worn areas in wool & knitted items as well as woven fabrics such as denim.

This is an ideal follow on workshop for those who have attended the ‘Visible mending, patch & stitch’ workshop.

Time: 2pm – 5pm
Age range: Teens and Adults

Join local textile artist Julie French in this inspiring and exciting workshop where she will share her skills and experience with you.

You will learn how to set up your machine for free motion stitching and use the sewing machine as a tool for continuous line drawing to explore movement and texture.

During this inspiring and friendly session you’ll begin with exploring through doodles, and experimenting with layered surfaces, leading to a finished piece.
