Course length: 6 sessions ( 6 x 2.5 hour sessions )
Morning session time: 10 am – 12.30 pm
Afternoon session time: 1 pm – 3.30 pm
Suitable for: Adults, beginners who can use a sewing machine to a basic level and improvers wishing to learn more complex skills and get a great fit

A six session course with classes held once a month
This course is designed for sewists who want the guidance of a taught course with enjoying the flexibility to work at their own pace, this six-month course meets once a month on Saturdays. Whether you're relatively new to dressmaking or looking to build your confidence and skills, we will help you create garments you'll love to wear.
Over the six sessions, Zoe (morning tutor) and Julie (afternoon tutor) will guide you in choosing achievable, high quality projects that suit both your skill level and personal style. You'll learn how to select the right sewing patterns, understand fabric choices, and make informed decisions that lead to successful, satisfying makes.
The monthly format gives you plenty of time to sew between sessions at home (if you wish), while still benefiting from regular support, advice, and motivation. You can choose to make a different project each month, or dedicate the course to a single, more ambitious garment and develop your skills in greater depth.
Whether your goal is to build a handmade wardrobe, tackle a dream project, or simply enjoy dedicated sewing time with like minded makers, this course offers the perfect balance of structure, creativity, and flexibility.
The group of students will stay the same, enabling everyone to get to know each other, so please do make sure you can attend most classes if possible when booking.
These sessions will provide you with a thorough introduction to the general principles and skills of clothes making and sewing, using a purchased commercial pattern.
You will learn:
To select the correct size pattern in relation to your own body measurements
To make simple pattern adjustments using basic methods
To select suitable fabrics
To understand and follow pattern terminology and instructions sheets
To use a sewing machine safely and correctly
To construct a garment to a good standard and finish
