Drawing with Stitch – Freehand Machine Embroidery

About the workshop:

Learn how to set up your machine for free motion stitching and use the sewing machine as a tool for continuous line drawing to explore movement and texture.

During this inspiring and friendly session you’ll begin with exploring through doodles, and experimenting with layered surfaces, leading to a finished piece.

We provide fabrics, papers, threads and images for inspiration for you to use to create your unique piece of textiles art, but please do feel free to bring along your own images and fabric for a personal project.

At the end of the workshop you will have your own unique textile art piece to take away with you.

About the artist:
Julie French is a local textiles artist and textiles teacher. She exhibits and sells regularly in Sussex
and London and is a member of the Society of Embroidered Work and the Sussex Guild

to. I’m always learning through experimentation, and even though I might use the same drawing
multiple times, by using different surface no outcome is ever the same.”
